Enez Ayasofya Cam-i Şerifi +

This mosque, known as Fâtih Mosque and sometimes called Hagia Sophia, is located near the Turkish-Greek border in the Enez district, where the Meriç flows into the sea, is inside the castle. Enez, which was an important harbour city in the Byzantine period, was taken over by Genoa in 1355 and was ruled by the Gattelusi family. The large church in Enez, which was conquered in 1455 by Has Yûnus Bey, the navy commander of Fâtih Sultan Mehmed, was converted into a mosque as a foundation of Fâtih. Inside, there are pencil embroidery on the walls, arches and wooden ceiling of the dome, which are estimated to have been made in the XIXth century. In addition, the remains of a verse surrounding the skirt of the dome can also be seen.

Enez Hagia Sophia Mosque, which was converted into a mosque after Fatih Sultan Mehmet conquered Enez in 1455 and was damaged in the earthquake in 1965 and closed to worship for 56 years, was reopened to worship with prayers after the Friday prayer led by Ali Erbaş, the President of Religious Affairs of the period in 2021.
