WHAT TO DO IN EDIRNE?
MERIC BRIDGE

Mecidiye Bridge, also known as Meriç Bridge, was built over the Meriç River on the Edirne-Karaağaç road. Its construction started in 1842 during the reign of Sultan Abdülmecit and was completed in 1847. It is a 263 metres long, 7 metres wide stone bridge with 13 piers and 12 pointed arches and slopes towards the sides. There are also drainage eyes between the piers. The inscribed pavilion in the centre is made of marble.
