Yıldırım Bridge +

Although it is not known when the bridge, which has no original inscription, was first built, it is stated in some sources that it belongs to the Byzantine Period and is known by this name due to its proximity to the Yıldırım Beyazıd Mosque. In 1544, Suleiman the Magnificent had it repaired and had an inscription put on it.The length of the bridge, whose arches and railings are made of rough hewn stone and the other parts are made of rubble stone, is 120 m. and its width is 4.34 m. The arch openings of the nine-eyed bridge are not equal. The arch in the middle is higher than the others. For this reason, a slope was formed from the middle to the sides.

There are triangular and pyramid-shaped flood slits between the arch piers. However, there are no discharge arches in this bridge. The inscription pavilion and railings in the middle were added during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent, during the repair in 1544. At both ends of the bridge, a father stone was placed at the beginning of the railings.
